Workbay was founded in Tennessee in 2015 by current CEO Mary Hayes and current president Alice Hayes, making it women-founded and women-led. They founded Workbay to provide underserved youth, justice-involved individuals, and underskilled adults with a way to build skills, track credentials from job training, and apply for high-demand jobs of interest. To connect their users to work, they engage employers, workforce boards, and educational and training providers with the platform. Workbay is one of five finalists in the U.S. Department of Education’s 2023 Future Finder Challenge, which seeks to reimagine career navigation for adult learners.
